KUALA LUMPUR: Four Malaysian private hospitals will participate in a medical tourism exhibition in Singapore to promote the country as a health tourism destination. Pantai Hospital, Penang Adventist Hospital, Mahkota Medical Centre and Prince Court Medical Centre will join 30 other organisations that will be showcasing their facilities and services at the Healthcare Travel Exhibition and Congress 2009.

Organised by Informa Life Sciences, the event will be held from June 28 to 30 at the Fairmont Hotel in Singapore.

The highlight of the event is the two-day Healthcare Travel Congress, featuring more than 30 well-known personalities from world-renowned medical centres.

Market analysts say the medical tourism industry is growing at 15 to 20 per cent annually. The Asian market is expected to generate revenue of more than US$4.4 billion (RM15.6 billion) by 2012.
The number of foreign patients who had sought treatment in Malaysia rose from 39,114 patients in 1998 to 374,063 last year.
